The team at Volpino will be hosting a series of regional food and wine nights once again in 2017. These nights were so popular in 2016 that some will be offered over two nights this year. We are beginning with a celebration of the cuisine and fabulous wines of the Piemonte region. Piemonte is home to the slow food revolution, advocating sustainability, local production and gastronomy and an alternative to fast food. Being landlocked, the cuisine of the region is based heavily on meats, cheeses, truffles, mushrooms, and hardy soups. Paired with the famous and powerful Nebbiolo grape, used to create the unparalleled Barolo and Barbaresco wines that can be aged for 20 years or more, these nights promise to be an excellent showcase of all things Piemonte!
Best Pizza Award
On Monday night, 15th August, Volpino picked up the award for best pizza in Victoria and Tasmania at the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for 2016. This award speaks volumes for the fantastic kitchen team that we have been able to assemble at Volpino under head chef Nathan. We are incredibly grateful for all the hard work that our staff have put in to make this possible. And of course to our lovely, loyal customers! Thank you all.
Food & Wine Nights
Over winter, Mount Martha local and Sommelier extraordinaire Emma Mordue hosted a series of food and wine nights, highlighting regional cuisine, (produced by our chefs Nathan and Sarah) and matching local wines. These nights were a raging success for those who were able to attend. Sadly, lots of people missed out on the limited places available. Food & Wine Nights
On Thursday 28th July, Mount Martha local and Sommelier extraordinaire Emma Mordue hosted a Spanish wine and food night, pairing some outrageously good wines with some fabulous food from our chefs, Nathan and Sarah. A cracking night was had by all. Here at Volpino we are running a series of these nights to celebrate the wonderful relationship between regional cuisine and locally produced wines.
